Mold is nothing new.  In fact, there are referenMold in the bibleces to mold problems and mold remediation that go back 2000 years or more.  Where?  In the Bible.

Read for yourself: Leviticus 13 and Leviticus 14 talk about mold.  Some translations may use other words for mold like mildew, but it's essentially the same.  Read chapter 14: 33-57.  The shortened version goes something like this:

When you enter the land of Canaan, I (God) will be putting a spreading of mold/mildew in a house in that land.  The priest (the mold inspector) must go and examine the mold and if it looks like a destructive mold, that is to say if its greenish or reddish, (so God says watch out for the green and red molds - the media tells us to watch out for "black mold" - I'd side with God) and if the depressions appear to be deeper than the surface, the priest should close the house for up for 7 days.

If the mold reappears, it is destructive and all the plaster and stones and timbers are to be torn out and thrown away.   After another reinspection, if the mold comes back, the house must be torn down.  If the mold does not reappear, the house is now clean.

The point is, mold has been here for a very long time, and it's going to be here for a very long time. We live with it every day.  The alarm generated by the media is overblown, and it's not necessary to panic when you find mold in your home.  We don't tear houses down anymore.

Today we have better tools, technologies, filters, machines, chemicals, "green products", and all sorts of cool stuff to make mold inspections and mold remediation more effective.
